EDC, WIMB, essentials, whatever you call the stuff you carry everyday is the topic of our latest blog series. We ask productive people to empty their bags and share their everyday carry with us to find out what helps them make stuff happen and what they can't live without.
Shan is an ACCA/college student living in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with valuable end-to-end productivity tips that will serve you well from morning till night.
Most importantly, have a good night's sleep ... you cannot focus if you are tired
I thrive on cute, so I try to keep the contents of my bag cute/colorful! Besides a notebook and the lecturer's notes, I must have my iPad which contains all my textbooks. The Baggu Duck bag is perfect because it has a laptop sleeve for my iPad and two nifty pockets for my keys and calculator. I also bring along my bullet journal to keep up with tasks and assignments. My pen case (Kokuyo Neocritz) doubles as a pen stand and I can easily pick what I want out of the bunch of pens I cramp into it! I think it's important to look presentable, so I bring along a small stash of makeup products with me. I go with a light makeup look because it's not too flashy for class and is effortless to apply daily. I usually have some chocolates/sweets with me because classes can feel unbearably long sometimes.
Besides the obvious essentials (phone, wallet, keys), I always have a water bottle, umbrella, sunblock and tissues. The heat in Malaysia can be unforgiving!
Go over your schedule/tasks for the next day, and get your bag ready the night before. That way you can hit the ground running when you wake up, and you'll never forget anything at home. And always keep your room/work table neat, as it does affect your productivity. I firmly believe that clutter in your physical surroundings will clutter your mind. Most importantly, have a good night's sleep. Even if you are working/studying in a motivating environment, you cannot focus if you are tired!
