Everyday carry

Everyday carry

By the Roadmap+ Team

When you're actively working towards achieving your goals or working on a major project, dedication, determination and a "work hard" ethic is crucial. In simple terms, it means seizing every moment and opportunity to turn a plan into action and make it a success.

Whether it's learning a new skill or starting a business, it is possible to do something, if only something small, no matter where you are. The secret is in recognizing portability, suitability and realistically estimating time required to complete a task. Having said that, larger tasks can also benefit from five minutes here and there, as long as the task doesn't command hours of concentration and focus.

Being ready for taking action is relatively easy after you've covered the analytical groundwork, you just need to have enough tools available to you and know when to utilize them. We've shortlisted essential carry that will help you get stuff done everyday.

Do what you can, with what you have, where you are. - Theodore Roosevelt

Sound

Acquire solid headphones which keep out noise, produce quality sound, are easy to carry, comfortable for long use and look good. Zone into your work during the commute or at your desk, drown out Friday afternoon work noise, learn a language, watch a video, or take a moment to listen to a meditation program.

Paper

To do lists, scratch paper, flashcards, planner, but at a minimum, a catch-all notebook. Big enough to be useful (e.g. A5), but whatever you have space for. Plain paper is good for anything, but also accommodates sketches for work or art. If you're all about tasks, grid paper is perfect and now available across most brands and notebook sizes.

Electronics

Keep laptops, ereaders and tablets charged and ready. Try the Kindle app to carry a library for upskilling or refreshing. If you work in IT, try a Safari subscription and never purchase a book again. Check your schedule, tasks and details anywhere by trying Sunrise Calendar or Wunderlist and sync across devices or the cloud.

Hobby / Passion

The busier one is, the more one manages to do, so why not ensure you allow yourself the opportunity to give some love to what you'd rather be doing. Carry an extra sketch book, install apps or books on the subject, carry any gear you can. Utilize more spare moments on those neglected hobbies.

A Good Pen

A good pen used to be hard to find, but allow us to help. If you often attend meetings or are looking for work, don't skimp on this one. Presentation counts in business, so you'll come across more professional and successful. If you're after a reliable pen that's also refillable, consider a Japanese brand, such as Uni-ball.
