10-minute breaks: Habits edition

10-minute breaks: Habits edition

By the Roadmap+ Team

Each issue we share three ways to do more in a 10-minute break. Here are breaks 19-21.

  1. Eliminate a short task
Knock a few short tasks off your to do list. Choose easy items that take two to five minutes to complete. These activities could include paying bills, ordering something you need online, responding to a casual email, sorting out your enrolment, posting to a discussion board, sending an invite to a friend or emptying the dishwasher.

  2. Drink more water
Have you had your eight glasses today? Are you on track to finish eight? Eight glasses is around half a gallon (2L) and may require a concerted effort on your part to consume this volume in a day. By tracking glasses or bottles of water you can catch up while drinking mindfully, tackling two healthy habits in one fell swoop. Hydration can help ward off some headaches, nourishes and cleanses your body.

  3. Offer your time
Use your break to help someone. Do a good deed, offer your time to a colleague or classmate inundated with work, or give someone your ears and a coffee who looks like they need it.
