10-minute breaks: Taking action edition

Each issue we share three ways to do more in a 10-minute break. Here are breaks 10-12.

  1. Watch a foreign tv ad
    Watching tv commercials helps develop listening skills in a foreign language. Short, repeatable & visual, you'll be surprised how much you pick up.

  2. Breathe deeply outdoors
    Meditation may not be for everyone, but stepping outside to breathe in fresh air provides distance & clarity while calming the nerves. Deep, "calm" or "slow" breathing is also said to help sufferers of anxiety.

  3. Draw, doodle, color
    Get into the zone or flow by starting or continuing a sketch. If you're not artistically-inclined, try doodling or an adult coloring book, which are touted as having a meditative effect. At the very least, you'll have some pressure-free fun.
